Our well placed Insider within Samsung India R&D has tipped us with some pretty reliable and exclusive information in the past, including the time frame for the Android 4.4 KitKat Update for the topmost Galaxy Lineup which includes the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S3 and has been spot on till now. Now the very same insider has leaked to us some exclusive information regarding the specs of the upcoming Galaxy Flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S5.
According to our insider, Samsung has used a new and creative way of implementing the fingerprint sensor into the device. As for now we have news that Samsung had used a layer of electromagnetic field which is generated behind the screen and is the reason for the working of the S Pen. Samsung has done something similar with the fingerprint sensor. They have implemented it in such a way that the fingerprint sensor is the screen itself. Imagine that! It could be just like the fantasy gadgets of James Bond movies.
Or something like the fake fingerprint apps that have long flooded the Play Store and the AppStore.
The insider also reaffirms that the Galaxy S5 will feature a 5.25-inch QHD (2,560×1,440) Super AMOLED display, a new Exynos (India, International)/Snapdragon (US) processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32/64 GB storage, and a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 3200 mAh ginormous battery. These specs have also been confirmed to us a few hours ago by the leaker Eldar Murtazin, so we have good faith on the specs.
The leaker says that he has no idea about the apparent dual versions (metallic/plastic) but can confirm that there is a new design approach which does not include the hardware buttons in the front and Samsung has moved on to on-screen touch keys. The reason for this as stated by the leaker is that Samsung India R&D gets to work with just the Internation Variant of the devices which eventually come to the Indian market and not the US variant or any exclusive variant.
The Galaxy S5 will run on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, with improved versions of several Samsung apps, such as S Health and WatchON, possibly a new interface, and will likely sport a fingerprint sensor. Samsung has already announced an Unpacked event on February 24, during the MWC at Barcelona. Market availability is expected to begin sometime in late April.
All the leaks are just leaks till the actual device is unveiled so we recommend taking all of the leaks with the usual pinch of salt, though we ourselves are not taking any!
